Independence Day 7/4/2009

Independence Day 7/4/2009 at Portland.
This is my first time celebrating Independence Day in Portland. Not to mention, a lot sales around for this big day. We started our shopping trip starting as early as Wednesday 7/1. We bought some stuffs :) but I felt it’s still not too great of a sales, some of the items are actaully still more expensive than normal day sales. Though you see the sales is like 60% discount, but it’s 60% from the original price instead of normal days clearance price (which is lower) + 40% discount.

Unforgettable is the firework on July 4th. Since it’s going to be packed with people and traffic will be heavy (we predicted), we decided to take MAX to downtown Portland (waterfront park) to watch the Firework which was on air at 10pm. When we reached there, it’s already full of crowd! All lined up at the bridge, at the waterfront and also opposite waterfront. A lot of people “camping” at the open ground grass, hardly can find any space between. All are excited and waiting for it.

We found a nice spot near the cruise boat. Wow, it’s really a nice firework! And it played for about 20min!! I never see such a long firework show. Since it’s fired off from a “boat/ship”, the firework actaully turned up a bit lower than expected, but still it’s able to catch my breath :)

Now, after the firework, all rushed to MAX. BIG crowd walking at the road and lining up along the MAX. Fortunately we didn’t drive, else we’ll be caught in the traffic of people instead of cars. :) Inside the train, it’s sardin, which I kind of used to it as this is common in Malaysia sometimes. But it’s not as bad as I would expect.

So, Happy Independence Day :)
